"Fast Food Nation" A Contradiction
In the book Fast Food Nation by Author Eric Scholosser a contradiction that I believe is being made is the fact that these companies, McDonald's in particular come off as if they are "Your Trusted Friend" and care about you, when in reality it is all buisness. They will do anything to catch your attention to get you in there fast food restaurants spending money. A lot of people may have there own opinion on who they can and or should blame for this situation. McDonald's is a corporation that works with other buisnesses such as slaughter houses. In order to keep there company open and making money they have to do buisness with these people that supply them with there meat and products. In order to keep doing buisness with these people they have to keep selling the product and keep getting customers to buy these products from them to do so. Advertising is a big strategy to reeling customers in and gaining loyal customers that will continuously come in and spend money so that is a big strategy that they use. A big conspiracy with McDonald's is the fact that they sell there meat for so cheap and if they were to sell there meat for as little as 10 or 20 cents more they can have there workers working in a more safe environment. If they are so caring and care about us, why aren't these workers being put to work in safe environments? They are being slaughtered themselves by these dangerous machines.

"Your Trusted Friends"
In the book "Fast Food Nation" the author Eric Schlosser discusses and states facts on how fast food companies, McDonald's in particular is all about tactic and strategy. He discusses how the corporation does things to get peoples attention and to gain there trust and loyalty. These people are mostly kids being there main target, which is the main idea of this chapter. As shown in the begining of the chapter (pg 30) there is a picture of "Ronald Mcdonald" visiting a school talking to children. And of course what better to use than a huge clown to get a childs attention. In the picture his hand is up close to his ear as if he is listening to what any of the kids have to say. Showing that he "cares". Children are the main target in this because they are the future consumers. Also they will go to there parents telling them they want it and parents will get it so they will feel like a good parent. Which will leave them both satisfied. These companies such as McDonald's go into public schools and incorporate with other companies such as "Disney" to gain and to keep more customers and personal connections. Which will keep them in buisness and will keep there company popular.
